Just days after securing the commitment of five-star forward KJ Evans, the Michigan State Spartans have added another gem to their 2025 recruiting class — this time landing electric four-star combo guard Jayden Harris.

Harris, a 6-foot-4 playmaker out of Chicago, is ranked No. 28 nationally by ESPN and is considered one of the most dynamic guards in the Midwest. He announced his decision live on his social media platforms Tuesday evening, holding up a green-and-white Spartan jersey to the roaring approval of fans watching online.

“I’m going where I’ll be pushed to greatness,” Harris said. “Coach Izzo is a legend who gets the best out of his guys, and I want that. Michigan State is where I’ll become the best version of myself.”

Known for his elite handles, quick first step, and lockdown perimeter defense, Harris chose Michigan State over offers from Illinois, Baylor, and Miami. He’s drawn comparisons to former Spartan standout Gary Harris for his two-way skillset and work ethic.

According to sources close to his recruitment, Harris built a strong connection with assistant coach Doug Wojcik, who made him a priority early on. MSU’s consistent presence in his life — attending AAU events, hosting multiple campus visits, and offering a long-term development plan — ultimately won Harris and his family over.

“I love that they’re not promising me anything,” Harris added. “They’re promising to coach me hard, to make me better, and to make me earn everything. That’s how I’ve always played.”

His addition gives Michigan State a lethal backcourt for the future. Pairing Harris with fellow commit KJ Evans and current young talent already on the roster positions the Spartans as a serious contender for years to come.

“This class is special,” Harris said. “We’re not just coming to compete — we’re coming to win it all.”

Spartans fans are already dreaming about a deep March Madness run, and with Harris now officially part of Izzo’s plans, there’s every reason to believe the team’s future is as bright as ever.
