No. 1 Edge Rusher  Commits to Oklahoma Sooners Over Alabama, Georgia, and Texas… Read more….

In a major recruiting win that sent shockwaves through the college football world, the Oklahoma Sooners have landed a commitment from five-star edge rusher Isaiah Campbell, the No. 1 ranked defensive end in the 2025 class. Campbell, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound powerhouse out of Bradenton, Florida, announced his commitment on Sunday afternoon, choosing the Sooners over top-tier programs including Alabama, Georgia, and Texas.

The decision came after months of speculation, countless campus visits, and fierce competition from powerhouse programs. Campbell’s choice is a huge boost to Brent Venables’ 2025 recruiting class and a strong signal that the Sooners remain a national force on the recruiting trail, especially as they prepare to transition fully into SEC competition.

“I’ve built a real relationship with Coach Venables and Coach Chavis,” Campbell said during his announcement on ESPN. “From the first time I stepped on campus in Norman, I felt the love. It felt like home. They’ve shown me a vision for how I can be developed, both on the field and off the field, and that was the difference.”

Campbell made official visits to Alabama and Georgia earlier this summer and was reportedly leaning toward Georgia at one point. However, Oklahoma’s persistence and clear defensive development plan won out. The Sooners pitched Campbell on becoming the centerpiece of their defensive resurgence in the SEC and laid out a role for him that mimics past elite pass rushers like Von Miller and Nick Bosa.

This commitment is a game-changer for Oklahoma’s defensive unit, which has struggled in recent years to keep up with the high-octane offenses of the SEC. Campbell brings explosive speed, elite hand technique, and an undeniable motor that allows him to disrupt plays in both the run and pass game. In his junior year at IMG Academy, he recorded 17 sacks and 28 tackles for loss, earning national recognition and All-American honors.

Campbell becomes the highest-ranked defensive player to commit to Oklahoma in the last five years and gives the Sooners their second five-star pledge in the 2025 cycle. He joins quarterback Carter McKinney and wide receiver Jaylen Ross as the cornerstones of a class that now ranks in the top five nationally.

“This is the kind of statement we’ve been waiting to make,” Coach Venables said in a brief comment after the announcement. “Isaiah is not just a phenomenal athlete—he’s a culture-changer. He’s hungry, coachable, and determined to be great.”

Campbell is expected to enroll early in January, giving him a chance to go through spring ball and adjust quickly to the college level. While there will be high expectations, both he and the Oklahoma coaching staff believe he is more than ready.

With Campbell now on board, the Sooners have not only added a game-wrecker to their future defense but also sent a clear message to the SEC and the rest of the country: Oklahoma football is back—and they’re building something special in Norman.
