Guyana Awaits ExxonMobil’s Gas Development Plans by End of March

GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – Guyana’s Vice President, Bharrat Jagdeo, has announced that the government is expecting ExxonMobil to submit its plans for developing the country’s offshore gas reserves by the end of March.

The move is a crucial step in unlocking Guyana’s energy potential, with the government believing that there is enough gas in Exxon’s Stabroek block for commercial development.

“We are eagerly awaiting ExxonMobil’s plans for gas development, and we expect to receive them by the end of March,” Vice President Jagdeo said.

ExxonMobil has been assessing the gas resources in the Stabroek block, and recently unveiled its “Wales Gas Vision,” outlining potential uses for the offshore gas. However, a concrete plan for development has yet to be announced.

The Guyanese government is keen to see the gas reserves developed, as it believes it will provide a significant boost to the country’s economy.

“We see gas development as a key part of our economic growth strategy, and we are working closely with ExxonMobil to make it a reality,” Vice President Jagdeo said.

The submission of ExxonMobil’s plans will mark an important milestone in the development of Guyana’s energy sector, and will pave the way for further investment and growth in the industry.
