MIAMI, FLORIDA – President Mohamed Irfaan Ali of Guyana has concluded a successful visit to the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) in Miami, Florida, aimed at strengthening bilateral defense ties between Guyana and the United States.

During his visit, President Ali met with Admiral Craig S. Faller, Commander of SOUTHCOM, and other senior officials to discuss areas of mutual interest, including regional security, counter-narcotics, and disaster response.

The President emphasized Guyana’s commitment to deepening its defense partnership with the United States, and explored opportunities for increased cooperation in areas such as maritime security, cyber defense, and military training.

“We value our partnership with the United States and SOUTHCOM, and we look forward to continuing our collaboration on regional security issues,” President Ali said.

Admiral Faller welcomed President Ali’s commitment to strengthening bilateral defense ties, and highlighted the importance of Guyana’s strategic location in the region.

“Guyana plays a critical role in maintaining regional stability, and we are committed to supporting their efforts to build a stronger, more capable defense force,” Admiral Faller said.

The visit marked an important milestone in Guyana-US defense relations, and sets the stage for further cooperation on regional security issues.
