KANSAS CITY, MO – Jan Stenerud, the Norwegian-born placekicking pioneer, is being celebrated for his remarkable journey from ski jumps to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Stenerud’s unlikely path to football stardom began in the mountains of Norway, where he grew up as a ski jumping prodigy. After earning a scholarship to Montana State University, Stenerud’s life took a dramatic turn when he was discovered kicking a football with remarkable skill while practicing ski jumps.

The rest, as they say, is history. Stenerud went on to become one of the greatest placekickers in NFL history, playing 19 seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, and Minnesota Vikings. His numerous accolades include four Pro Bowl appearances, three First-Team All-Pro selections, and his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1991.

Today, Stenerud remains involved in the sports world, working with a Kansas City-based architectural firm specializing in sports venues and serving as a commentator for Scandinavian television during Super Bowl broadcasts.
