Recent polling data indicates a significant erosion of support among Hispanic voters for President Donald Trump and Republican candidates, according to a report published Tuesday by Axios based on exclusive findings from a Hart Research/TelevisaUnivision survey.

In the 2024 election, Trump achieved historic gains with Hispanic voters, capturing between 46% and 48% of that demographic. The new survey, however, paints a markedly different picture just weeks before the midterm elections. Axios reported that overall, Trump is “deeply underwater with Latino voters in [certain] battleground districts.”

According to the data, 11% of Hispanic voters who supported Trump in 2024 now say they intend to back Democratic congressional candidates. Trump’s job approval among Hispanic respondents stands at 36%, with 63% expressing disapproval. On specific issues, 65% disapprove of his handling of prices and the cost of living, while 62% disapprove of his immigration policy.

In a survey of 17 competitive House districts, Democrats hold a 58% to 35% lead on the generic congressional ballot—a 23-point margin that is more than double the 11-point edge Kamala Harris held over Trump in the same sample’s self-reported 2024 vote. Among consumers of Spanish-language media, Democrats lead the 2026 generic ballot by 14 points, compared with a one-point Trump advantage in that group’s recalled 2024 vote.

With the midterms approximately eight weeks away, TelevisaUnivision Senior Vice President Kate Coleman emphasized that Hispanic voters are not fixed in their party allegiance. “They’re paying close attention and making decisions based on who shows up for them, and how they’re showing up,” Coleman told Axios.

The findings highlight a potential vulnerability for Republicans in key districts as the election approaches.
