Leicester Star Sammy Braybrooke Admits Frustration But Backs Russell Martin’s Direction
Leicester City midfielder Sammy Braybrooke has openly acknowledged the club’s current standing falls short of expectations, yet insisted the side is moving “in the right direction” under head coach Russell Martin.

The Foxes sit 10th in League One after 13 matches, a position well below the promotion-challenging level many anticipated following their summer rebuild.
Despite the mid-table placing, Braybrooke pointed to recent form as evidence of progress. Leicester have won three of their last five league games, and the young midfielder believes the trajectory remains positive even after a frustrating 2-2 draw with Stevenage at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.
“It’s definitely upwards, but I don’t think it’s where we want to be,” Braybrooke said while reflecting on the recent run. “We feel like we could be coming away with more points, especially today. We also feel we should have got a draw at Luton. So it’s going in the right direction, but we’re still striving for more, we want more, so that’s what we’re always working towards.”

Braybrooke himself provided a perfect start against Stevenage, netting his first senior goal for the club after just two minutes to put the Foxes ahead. On-loan midfielder Kamari Doyle also found the net, but Martin’s side twice surrendered their lead as the visitors claimed a share of the spoils.
The result left Braybrooke feeling the weight of missed opportunity. “It probably feels more like a loss,” he admitted. “You dominate the game for so long, get the goal we’re looking for and then to ultimately concede a goal like that is disappointing.”
With several players set for international duty, Leicester’s next league fixture is expected to be against leaders Huddersfield Town on 21 November. Their scheduled match against Bradford City on 14 November is likely to be postponed, giving Martin’s squad an extended period to refine the system and address the fine margins that have cost them points in recent weeks.
While the Foxes continue to adjust to life in the third tier, Braybrooke’s comments underline a growing belief within the dressing room that the foundations being laid under Martin will eventually deliver the results supporters demand.
