Phoenix, AZ – In a heartfelt tribute, former Phoenix Suns owner Jerry Colangelo reflected on the life and legacy of Junior Bridgeman, the late billionaire and NBA alum, who passed away recently.

Colangelo, who owned the Suns from 1987 to 2004, had a close relationship with Bridgeman, who played for the Suns from 1975 to 1984. In an exclusive interview with ESPN, Colangelo shared fond memories of Bridgeman’s time on and off the court.

“Junior was an incredible individual, both as a player and as a businessman,” Colangelo said. “He was a true leader on the court, and his work ethic was unmatched. But what really impressed me was his business acumen and his ability to build a successful career after his playing days were over.”

Bridgeman, who earned over $350 million in endorsements and business deals after his playing career, was a trailblazer for NBA players looking to build successful careers beyond basketball.

“Junior was a pioneer in many ways,” Colangelo said. “He showed players that there was life after basketball, and that with hard work and determination, they could achieve great things. He was a true inspiration to many, and his legacy will live on for generations to come.”

Colangelo also remembered Bridgeman’s philanthropic efforts, particularly in the Louisville, Kentucky community, where Bridgeman grew up.

“Junior was a generous and caring individual who always gave back to his community,” Colangelo said. “He was a true role model, and his commitment to philanthropy was inspiring.”

The NBA community has come together to pay tribute to Bridgeman’s life and legacy, with many players, coaches, and owners sharing their own memories and condolences.

“Junior Bridgeman was a true giant in our game, and his impact will be felt for years to come,” Colangelo said. “I’m honored to have known him, and I’ll always cherish the memories we made together.”
