Top News: In comparison to Travis Hunter, Ashton Jeanty believes that he “should have walked away” with the Heisman Trophy

In the presence of an assembled group of previous champions, Travis Hunter of Colorado hoisted the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night and returned the 45-pound cast bronze statue to the Mountain Time Zone. He also delivered a poignant speech.
The player he narrowly defeated for the honor believes that he should have been the one to accomplish all of that.
Ashton Jeanty, the Heisman runner-up from Boise State, expressed to reporters following the ceremony that he “should’ve walked away” with the most prestigious individual award in college football.
“I commend Travis for his victory; however, it is as straightforward as that,” he stated. “Strive harder, push yourself harder.”
Jeanty would have likely won the award in any other year, provided that he did not have to compete for the trophy against an individual who had the historical distinction of being one of the country’s finest wide receivers and cornerbacks.
Jeanty has accumulated 2,497 yards and 29 touchdowns on the ground, averaging 7.3 yards per carry, as Boise State prepares for its College Football Playoff matchup against either Penn State or SMU. His rushing total is the fourth-highest in FBS history, placing him 131 yards behind Barry Sanders’ single-season record from 1988. Sanders, who was awarded the Heisman Trophy that season, accomplished this feat in a mere 11 games.
While leading the Broncos to a 12-1 record, a Mountain West Conference championship, and a first-round bye in the impending playoffs, Jeanty accomplished this.
