Durham, NC – July 7, 2025 — The Duke Blue Devils have made a major splash on the recruiting trail, announcing the signing of highly-touted forward Jalen Reese, a dynamic 6-foot-8 prospect out of Houston, Texas. The commitment marks another pivotal move in Head Coach Jon Scheyer’s quest to return Duke to national title contention.

Reese, ranked among the top 15 players in the class of 2025, chose the Blue Devils over offers from Kansas, Michigan State, and Alabama. Known for his versatile scoring ability, elite rebounding instincts, and defensive tenacity, Reese is expected to make an immediate impact at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

“I’ve dreamed about playing under the lights at Duke since I was a kid,” Reese said during his announcement. “The tradition, the fans, and the opportunity to grow under Coach Scheyer made this the perfect choice for me and my future.”

Coach Scheyer expressed excitement about the signing, calling Reese “a program-changing athlete with the work ethic and leadership we look for at Duke.”

Reese averaged 21.7 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in his senior year at Westbrook High School, leading his team to a state championship and earning Texas Gatorade Player of the Year honors. His combination of size, skill, and high basketball IQ has NBA scouts already projecting him as a potential lottery pick.

The addition of Reese bolsters an already impressive Duke 2025 recruiting class and solidifies the Blue Devils as one of the early favorites heading into the upcoming NCAA season.
