The Edmonton Oilers made a significant splash this offseason by announcing the signing of highly-touted winger Logan Savoie, a dynamic 21-year-old forward who has turned heads across the hockey world with his explosive speed, playmaking ability, and natural scoring touch.

The deal, officially confirmed on Tuesday, brings the former top CHL prospect to Edmonton on a three-year entry-level contract worth $2.85 million, including performance bonuses. Savoie, who recently completed a standout season with the London Knights in the OHL, led the league in points and was named a First Team All-Star. He is expected to inject fresh energy into the Oilers’ top six and provide much-needed depth behind superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.

“We are thrilled to welcome Logan to Edmonton,” said Oilers General Manager Ken Holland in a press release. “He’s a game-changer — a player who competes every shift and has the instincts to make those around him better. This is a big step toward building a deeper, faster, and more dangerous team for the future.”

At 6’1″ and 190 pounds, Savoie combines finesse with grit, a style that has drawn comparisons to Jonathan Huberdeau in his early years. Scouts have praised his hockey IQ and two-way reliability, making him not only a threat on offense but a dependable option on the backcheck.

“Signing with the Oilers is a dream come true,” Savoie said during his introductory media availability. “I’ve looked up to players like McDavid for years, and now to have the chance to learn from him and be a part of a team chasing a Stanley Cup—it’s surreal.”

The Oilers, who fell short in the 2025 Western Conference Finals, are looking to retool and sharpen their attack heading into next season. With questions around secondary scoring and inconsistent depth throughout the playoffs, the addition of a hungry, young talent like Savoie could be the boost they need to finally get over the hump.

While Savoie is expected to attend training camp with a shot at cracking the opening-night roster, team sources say the coaching staff will give him every opportunity to earn his place. “We won’t rush him,” said head coach Kris Knoblauch. “But if he’s ready, he’ll play. He has the tools and the mindset to contribute right away.”

Fans across Alberta are already buzzing about the signing, with Oilers social media flooded with highlights and welcome messages for the new face of the franchise’s youth movement.

As the Oilers continue building a roster capable of bringing Lord Stanley’s Cup back to Edmonton for the first time since 1990, the signing of Logan Savoie is a clear statement:

the future is now.
