In a bold offseason move that strengthens an already lethal roster, the Edmonton Oilers have signed veteran forward Tyler Toffoli to a two-year, $10 million contract, bringing in much-needed scoring depth and experience for another run at the Stanley Cup.

Toffoli, 32, is coming off a strong campaign split between the New Jersey Devils and Winnipeg Jets, where he scored 33 goals and added 24 assists for 57 total points. Known for his quick release, two-way play, and ability to show up in clutch moments, Toffoli adds immediate firepower to an Oilers team loaded with top-end talent.

General manager Ken Holland made the announcement Tuesday morning, calling Toffoli “a proven playoff performer” and “a perfect addition to our top six.”

“This is about adding another weapon to our offense,” Holland said. “Tyler knows how to win, how to contribute in high-pressure situations, and how to play with stars. That’s exactly what we were looking for.”

Toffoli’s arrival gives Edmonton yet another scoring option to support superstars Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, especially after their heartbreaking Stanley Cup Final loss in 2024. Toffoli has 48 points in 88 career playoff games and won a Stanley Cup with the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.

“I’m thrilled to join this group,” Toffoli said. “Playing with guys like McDavid and Draisaitl is a dream for any winger. But more than anything, I came here to win. This team is right on the edge, and I want to help push it over.”

The contract includes a modified no-trade clause and carries an average annual value of $5 million, making it a cap-conscious signing that balances production and flexibility. Toffoli is expected to skate on the second line and power play unit, where his quick shot and off-puck movement can be fully utilized.

Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch praised the move, noting Toffoli’s fit in Edmonton’s high-octane system.

“He’s smart, he’s reliable, and he can finish,” Knoblauch said. “Whether he’s playing 5-on-5 or special teams, he’s going to give us a boost.”

Fans flooded social media with excitement after the news broke. Hashtags like #ToffoliToEdmonton, #CupBound, and #OilCountryReloads quickly trended as optimism spread across Alberta.

The Oilers’ top six now features McDavid, Draisaitl, Hyman, Nugent-Hopkins, Kane, and Toffoli — a mix of skill, speed, and scoring that few teams in the NHL can match. With Stuart Skinner continuing to develop in net and a core of defensemen anchored by Darnell Nurse and Evan Bouchard, Edmonton is clearly loading up for another title chase.

“I’ve played against the Oilers for years — now I get to join them,” Toffoli said. “The goal is the Cup. Nothing less.”

With this signing, the message is clear: the Edmonton Oilers are not done yet — they’re just getting started.
