Breaking: Elon Musk's Tesla is opposed to a vehicle crash regulation that Donald Trump's transition team is seeking to eliminate

In November, Musk—the wealthiest man in the world—spent over $250,000 to aid Trump’s presidential campaign. Tesla stands to gain the most from the elimination of the crash-disclosure clause, since the company has reported over 1,500 crashes to federal safety inspectors through the program. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched three investigations into Tesla, one of which is related to the data.

The crash-reporting rule was proposed for elimination by a transition team that was assigned the responsibility of developing a 100-day plan for automobile policy. According to the memo reviewed by Reuters, the group referred to the measure as a demand for “excessive” data collecting.
