In a move that sends shockwaves through college basketball, five-star guard Boogie Fland has flipped his commitment from Kentucky to Arkansas, becoming the first major blue-chip recruit to follow John Calipari to Fayetteville.

Fland, a 6-foot-3 combo guard out of Archbishop Stepinac (NY), was ranked as one of the top backcourt prospects in the nation. Originally committed to Calipari’s Kentucky Wildcats, Fland reopened his recruitment after the coaching change — and now he’s officially headed to the Razorbacks.

“I committed to Coach Cal because I trust him — and now I’m taking that trust with me to Arkansas,” Fland said in a statement. “The vision he shared for what he’s building with the Razorbacks is unstoppable. I want to be part of history.”

Fland averaged 19.2 points, 6.5 assists, and 4.3 rebounds during his senior season and has consistently dominated elite-level competition on the EYBL circuit. Known for his killer crossover, deep shooting range, and fiery competitiveness, he’s expected to start immediately in the Arkansas backcourt.

The commitment is a monster win for Calipari, who has made headlines since arriving in Fayetteville with a goal to quickly return the Razorbacks to national contention. With Fland now in the fold, that plan is gaining serious momentum.

“Boogie is a floor general, a shot maker, and a leader,” Calipari said. “He’s the kind of guy you build a program around — fearless, skilled, and driven. I’m proud to continue this journey with him here in Arkansas.”

This flip also sends Arkansas’s 2024 recruiting class soaring up the national ranks. Fland joins a talented group of players Calipari is assembling through both high school recruiting and the transfer portal, giving Hogs fans legitimate reason to dream big.

Fland stated two key reasons for his decision: his belief in Coach Cal’s development track record and the opportunity to be the face of a rising SEC powerhouse.

“Cal gets guys to the league. That’s the goal,” Fland said. “But he also builds culture — and I want to be one of the leaders who builds that here.”

The reaction from Razorback Nation was electric, with hashtags like #BoogieToTheHill, #WPS, and #CalEffect trending across social media. Fans celebrated landing a real game-changer who could bring NBA energy to Bud Walton Arena.

Recruiting analysts called the move “one of the most significant flips of the cycle” and praised Fland’s maturity in handling the decision. One scout said, “Boogie has the ‘it’ factor. He’s ready to run a high-major team right away.”

For Arkansas, this commitment marks not just a win on the court — but a signal to the college basketball world: the Razorbacks are officially back in the blue-blood conversation.

“I’m ready to make Fayetteville proud,” Fland said. “Let’s get to work. Hog fans — I’m home.”
