In a significant recruiting win for head coach Porter Moser and the Oklahoma Sooners, four-star small forward Malik Anderson has officially committed to the Sooners, giving Oklahoma a dynamic, high-upside addition to its 2025 class.

Anderson, a 6-foot-7 two-way standout from Duncanville High School in Texas, is ranked as the No. 9 small forward in the nation and among the top 60 overall players in the 2025 class. With elite length, defensive instincts, and a developing offensive game, Anderson has the potential to make a major impact in the Big 12 — and beyond.

He chose Oklahoma over finalists Texas, Baylor, and Arkansas, all of which had been aggressively pursuing the talented wing for months.

“Coach Moser showed belief in me from the beginning,” Anderson said during his announcement ceremony held at his high school gym. “The chance to build something great at Oklahoma — that meant everything. It’s not just about being part of something established. I want to help create something that lasts.”

The Sooners coaching staff had prioritized Anderson for over a year, envisioning him as a future cornerstone of their rotation. He’s known for his defensive versatility, capable of guarding positions 1 through 4, and has recently elevated his offensive game, averaging 17.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists as a junior while shooting nearly 38% from beyond the arc.

“Malik’s ceiling is incredibly high,” said Coach Porter Moser. “He brings size, toughness, and a team-first mindset that fits perfectly with how we play. This is a huge step for our program.”

Anderson cited Oklahoma’s commitment to development and the opportunity to make an immediate impact as the two biggest reasons behind his decision. “Coach Moser doesn’t just coach — he invests,” Anderson added. “And I want to be in a place where I can grow and lead.”

This is a major addition for a program that’s looking to re-establish itself as a consistent national force in the new-look Big 12. With Anderson in the fold, Oklahoma’s 2025 recruiting class climbs into the national Top 25 and sends a strong message that the Sooners are serious about building for the future.

Fans quickly celebrated the news across social media platforms with hashtags like #AndersonToOU, #BoomerSooner2025, and #MoserMagic trending regionally. Former Sooners players also chimed in, welcoming the young forward and praising the staff’s success on the trail.

Anderson will bring athleticism, size, and leadership to Norman, and his early commitment is expected to help attract more talent to the class. He plans to enroll in the summer of 2025 and compete for immediate playing time as a freshman.

“I’m not just coming to play — I’m coming to win,” Anderson said. “It’s Sooner Nation from here on out.”
