*Venezuela Brands Rubio “Enemy of the State” Over US Backing of Guyana’s Territory*

Caracas, Venezuela – In a sharp escalation of diplomatic tensions, Venezuela’s government has branded US Senator Marco Rubio an “enemy of the state”.

The move comes after the US Secretary of State reaffirmed Washington’s recognition of Guyana’s sovereignty over the disputed Essequibo region.

Venezuela’s Foreign Minister, Yvan Gil, launched a scathing attack on Senator Rubio, accusing him of harboring an “unhealthy obsession with harming Venezuela”.

“Rubio’s meddling in our internal affairs and his blatant support for Guyana’s territorial claims are unacceptable,” Gil said in a statement.

The Essequibo region has long been a point of contention between Venezuela and Guyana, with both countries claiming sovereignty.

The US Secretary of State’s statement was seen as a significant boost to Guyana’s claim, prompting Venezuela’s angry response.

Senator Rubio’s office has yet to respond to the Venezuelan government’s accusations.

The diplomatic row is set to further strain relations between Caracas and Washington, which have been tense in recent years.

Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
