*US and Guyana Unite in Condemning Venezuela’s Naval Incursion*

WASHINGTON D.C./GEORGETOWN, Guyana – The United States and Guyana have issued a joint statement condemning Venezuela’s recent naval incursion into Guyana’s territorial waters.

The statement, released on Wednesday, described Venezuela’s actions as “aggressive” and “provocative,” and called on the Venezuelan government to respect Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We urge Venezuela to refrain from any further provocative actions and to respect the sovereign rights of Guyana,” said the statement, which was signed by US Secretary of State and Guyana’s Foreign Affairs Minister.

The incident in question occurred on Tuesday, when a Venezuelan naval vessel was detected entering the Stabroek Block, a lucrative oil field located within Guyana’s territorial waters.

Guyana has long maintained that the Stabroek Block is located within its territorial waters, while Venezuela has claimed that the area is part of its Essequibo region.

The US and Guyana have both made it clear that they will not tolerate any further aggression from Venezuela.

“We stand with Guyana in the face of this blatant aggression,” said a spokesperson for the US State Department. “We will continue to support Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from the international community, with several countries and organizations calling on Venezuela to respect Guyana’s territorial boundaries.
