EPPING, N.H. — Brittany Force powered her Monster Energy dragster to a commanding Top Fuel victory at the 2017 NHRA New England Nationals, marking her first win of the season and the fourth of her career. The triumph at New England Dragway was a significant milestone in her 2017 campaign, setting the stage for her eventual Top Fuel world championship.

Force’s weekend in Epping was marked by exceptional performance. She set both ends of the track record during Friday’s qualifying with a 3.686-second run at 331.36 mph, leading an all-female sweep of the top qualifying spots alongside her sister Courtney Force in Funny Car and Erica Enders in Pro Stock .

On race day, Force maintained her momentum, defeating Steve Chrisman, Troy Coughlin Jr., and Shawn Langdon to reach the final round. There, she faced off against three-time world champion Antron Brown. In a thrilling showdown, Force delivered a 3.716-second pass at 328.62 mph, edging out Brown’s 3.728 at 327.98 mph to secure the victory .

“We figured things out in Topeka, and I felt like we had our team back, so we knew our first win would be right around the corner,” Force said. “The key to it all is our team sticking together and not giving up, and it definitely paid dividends today” .

This victory propelled Force to sixth in the Top Fuel points standings and made her the fifth different winner in the category for the season. Her success in Epping was a pivotal moment, contributing to her historic achievement later that year when she became the second woman in NHRA history to win a Top Fuel world championship, joining the legendary Shirley Muldowney .

The 2017 New England Nationals also highlighted the prowess of female drivers in NHRA. Alongside Force’s Top Fuel victory, Erica Enders clinched the Pro Stock title, and Courtney Force reached the Funny Car final, underscoring the significant impact of women in the sport .

As the NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series progressed, Force’s win in Epping served as a catalyst for her championship run, demonstrating the strength and determination of her team and solidifying her status as a formidable competitor in Top Fuel racing.
