Tallahassee, FL – In a historic moment for Florida State University’s women’s basketball program, former head coach Susan Semrau has pledged a remarkable $3 million donation to support the team’s future endeavors.
The landmark gift, which is one of the largest in program history, was announced on Friday, sending shockwaves of excitement throughout the Seminoles community.
“I’m overwhelmed with gratitude and joy,” said Brooke Wyckoff, current FSU women’s basketball head coach. “Coach Semrau’s generosity will have a lasting impact on our program, and we’re honored to continue her legacy.”
Semrau, who led the Seminoles to unprecedented success during her 26-year tenure from 1997-2022, is widely regarded as one of the greatest coaches in program history.
“This donation is a testament to Coach Semrau’s enduring commitment to FSU women’s basketball,” said FSU Director of Athletics Michael Alford. “We’re grateful for her leadership and generosity, which will help us continue to compete at the highest level.”
The $3 million gift will be used to support various initiatives within the program, including scholarships, facility upgrades, and recruiting efforts.
Semrau’s legacy continues to inspire the current generation of Seminoles players, who are determined to build on her success.
“Coach Semrau paved the way for us, and now it’s our turn to make her proud,” said senior guard Savannah Wilkinson. “We’re grateful for her support and look forward to making a lasting impact on the court.”
The FSU women’s basketball program has a rich history of success, including 14 NCAA Tournament appearances and 5 ACC Championships.
With Semrau’s generous donation, the Seminoles are poised to continue their winning tradition and make a lasting impact on the world of college basketball.
