Barcelona, Spain – The Formula 1 community is abuzz with excitement after a surprise reunion between seven-time World Champion Lewis Hamilton and his former teammate at Mercedes-AMG, Valtteri Bottas.

The reunion took place during pre-season testing at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, where Hamilton’s current team, Mercedes-AMG, is preparing for the upcoming season.

Fans were thrilled to see the two former teammates catch up and share a laugh, sparking nostalgia for their successful partnership at Mercedes-AMG from 2017 to 2021.

“It’s great to see Lewis and Valtteri together again,” said Mercedes-AMG Team Principal, Toto Wolff. “They had a fantastic partnership during their time together, and it’s clear they still have a strong bond.”

Bottas, who now drives for Alfa Romeo, was spotted chatting with Hamilton in the Mercedes-AMG garage during a break in testing. The two drivers shared a warm exchange, with Hamilton even giving Bottas a friendly pat on the back.

The reunion was a welcome distraction from the intense focus on pre-season testing, where teams are fine-tuning their cars ahead of the new season.

“It’s always great to catch up with old friends,” said Hamilton, when asked about the reunion. “Valtteri is a fantastic driver and an even better person. I’m glad we could share a laugh together.”

The reunion has sparked hopes among fans that Bottas might one day return to Mercedes-AMG, although the Finnish driver has committed to Alfa Romeo for the foreseeable future.
