Former Steelers QB Landry Jones Begins Coaching Career as Offensive Analyst at University of Tennessee

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Landry Jones is stepping into the coaching world, transitioning from his playing career to join the University of Tennessee as an offensive analyst. This marks Jones’ first official coaching position at the collegiate level, signaling a new chapter in his football journey after years of playing professionally.

Jones, who spent most of his NFL career with the Steelers, was drafted by the team in the fourth round of the 2013 NFL Draft. During his time in Pittsburgh, he served as a backup quarterback behind Ben Roethlisberger and gained valuable experience, contributing in various roles on the field. After his stint with the Steelers, Jones went on to play for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Oklahoma Outlaws of the Alliance of American Football before eventually retiring from playing.

After hanging up his cleats, Jones began exploring coaching as a way to stay involved with the game he loves. His decision to join the Tennessee Volunteers staff comes after a period of reflection and consideration, as he felt drawn to share his knowledge of the game with the next generation of athletes.

As an offensive analyst, Jones will play a critical role in helping to shape Tennessee’s offensive strategy, breaking down film, analyzing opponents, and providing support to the offensive coaching staff. His experience at the professional level and his understanding of the quarterback position will certainly be an asset to the Volunteers’ coaching staff as they prepare for the upcoming seasons.

The addition of Jones to Tennessee’s coaching staff also underscores the increasing trend of former NFL players transitioning into coaching roles at the college level. With his wealth of experience and commitment to mentoring young athletes, Jones is poised to make a significant impact on the Volunteers’ program.

Tennessee fans and football enthusiasts alike will be eager to see how Jones’ expertise will influence the development of the team as the Volunteers look to build upon their recent success.
