GEORGETOWN, GUYANA – The Guyanese government has announced a nationwide military recruitment drive, seeking to bolster the country’s defense forces amid growing security concerns.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Defense, the recruitment drive aims to enlist hundreds of new soldiers to strengthen the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).

“The GDF is committed to defending our nation’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Brigadier General Gary Beaton, Chief of Staff of the GDF. “We urge all eligible citizens to join our ranks and serve their country.”

The recruitment drive is open to Guyanese citizens between the ages of 18 and 25, who meet the necessary physical and educational requirements.

Successful applicants will undergo intensive training at the GDF’s Basic Training School, where they will learn essential military skills and disciplines.

The move comes as Guyana seeks to strengthen its military capabilities amid tensions with neighboring Venezuela.

– Have a minimum of 3 CXC subjects (including English and Math)
