Drafted 204th overall in 1996, Kaberle became one of the greatest value picks in franchise history. Over his 12 seasons in Toronto, he recorded 520 points — third all-time among Maple Leafs defensemen — and earned four All-Star selections. Though he wasn’t the loudest voice in the locker room, teammates often praised his leadership by example and ability to steady the team in high-pressure situations.

Even after being traded in 2011, Kaberle remained connected to the Toronto community. He’s been involved in local youth hockey, charity events, and has made appearances at Leafs alumni games.

Social media erupted as fans shared memories of Kaberle’s time with the team, many hailing him as “the most underrated defenseman in Leafs history.”
