Bloomington, IN — Indiana University Basketball has officially brought one of its most beloved figures back into the program, hiring Jordan Hulls as the new Team and Recruiting Coordinator. The former IU point guard and fan favorite returns to Bloomington in a move that blends nostalgia with strategic intent, signaling a new era in Hoosier basketball.

Hulls, who retired from professional basketball in 2022 after a successful nine-year career overseas, steps into a role that will place him at the heart of Indiana’s recruiting operations and program development. The announcement electrified Hoosier Nation, as fans celebrated the return of a player who once embodied the grit, intelligence, and heart that define IU basketball.

> “It’s a surreal feeling to be back,” Hulls said in a statement released by the program. “Indiana is home. It always has been. I’m excited to help this program get back to where it belongs—at the top.”

Hulls, a Bloomington native, was a four-year starter at IU from 2009 to 2013. Known for his high basketball IQ and deadly shooting, he helped lead the Hoosiers back to national prominence under then-head coach Tom Crean. His leadership on and off the floor made him a cornerstone of IU’s resurgence, and his impact has remained deeply felt among fans ever since.

After graduating, Hulls carved out an impressive professional career in Europe, playing in countries such as Poland, Belgium, Germany, and Kosovo. His reputation as a floor general and consistent performer followed him abroad, where he gained invaluable experience across multiple basketball systems.

Now, he brings that global perspective back to Bloomington, where he’ll support head coach Mike Woodson and the staff in their recruiting efforts, player development strategies, and day-to-day team operations. His role as Team and Recruiting Coordinator is critical—not just administratively, but symbolically—as Indiana seeks to blend tradition with modern competitiveness.

> “Jordan represents everything this program stands for,” Coach Woodson said. “He’s lived the IU experience as a player, and now he’ll help future players understand what it means to wear the candy stripes.”

The hiring is seen as both a savvy recruiting move and a culture play. Hulls’ deep ties to the university and his understanding of what it takes to succeed in Bloomington give IU a powerful voice when connecting with potential recruits. His presence also strengthens the program’s efforts to retain top in-state talent and rebuild a championship culture rooted in identity and pride.

As the Hoosiers push forward with high hopes under Woodson’s leadership, Jordan Hulls will now play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of Indiana basketball. And if his playing days were any indication, the Hoosiers just gained a winner—again.
