Lucas Raymond Vows to Stay with the Red Wings and Show Support

Detroit, MI — May 29, 2025

Detroit Red Wings forward Lucas Raymond has reassured fans of his continued commitment to the franchise, declaring he will stay with the team and stand by them through the next chapter of their journey. In an era where player movement is increasingly common, Raymond’s pledge comes as a welcome message of loyalty for the Red Wings community.

Speaking during a media availability at Little Caesars Arena this week, Raymond kept his words simple but powerful: “I’m staying. I’m here for this team.” The statement was brief, but its weight was felt throughout the organization and among the fanbase, which has come to view the 23-year-old winger as one of the central pillars of Detroit’s rebuilding effort.

Raymond, who recently completed a breakout 2024–25 NHL season, has quickly emerged as both a fan favorite and a team leader. With 80 points (27 goals, 53 assists) in 82 games, he not only led the Red Wings in scoring but also showed consistency, resilience, and maturity beyond his years. His offensive contributions, paired with his strong two-way play, have solidified his place as a cornerstone for Detroit’s future.

While the Red Wings narrowly missed the playoffs this season, their performance showed marked improvement, and much of that progress can be attributed to the chemistry developing among their young core—Raymond, captain Dylan Larkin, and defenseman Moritz Seider among them. With Raymond confirming his long-term commitment, fans and team officials alike are optimistic about what lies ahead.

Earlier this season, Detroit signed Raymond to a significant contract extension—an eight-year deal worth $64.6 million. While that move already hinted at mutual commitment between the player and the organization, Raymond’s recent public statement removes any lingering doubt about where his priorities lie.

General Manager Steve Yzerman responded positively to Raymond’s words. “Lucas has been nothing but committed since the day he got here,” Yzerman said. “He works hard, he leads by example, and now he’s made it clear that he’s fully on board with what we’re building.”

In the locker room, teammates echoed similar sentiments. Veteran forward Andrew Copp praised Raymond’s maturity. “It’s rare to see a young guy with that kind of poise—not just on the ice, but off it too. When he talks, guys listen. His decision to stick with this.!
