Miami, FL – The Miami Hurricanes’ fairy-tale season came to a heartbreaking end last night, as Cam Ward’s record-breaking performance was not enough to secure a coveted playoff berth.

Ward, the Hurricanes’ star quarterback, threw for 4313 yards and 39 touchdowns this season, shattering multiple school records and earning himself a spot in the conversation for the nation’s top quarterback.

Despite Ward’s heroics, the Hurricanes fell agonizingly short of the playoff cut, finishing 11-1 and ranked 6th in the final College Football Playoff rankings.

The scene at Hard Rock Stadium was one of utter despair as the Hurricanes players and coaches struggled to come to terms with the devastating news.

“We’re extremely proud of our team and what we accomplished this season,” said a visibly emotional head coach Mario Cristobal. “But it’s hard not to feel a sense of disappointment and frustration when you come so close to achieving your goals.”

Ward, who was consoled by his teammates and coaches after the announcement, took to social media to express his gratitude and disappointment.

“I’m so proud of my teammates and coaches for their tireless efforts and dedication this season,” Ward wrote. “We may not have made the playoffs, but we made history and created memories that will last a lifetime.”

The Hurricanes will now prepare for a bowl game, with their destination and opponent to be announced in the coming days.
