Bloomington, IN – In a stunning upset, the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team defeated top-ranked Purdue 75-68 at Assembly Hall on Saturday night, proving that Mike Woodson’s rebuilding efforts are paying off.

The Hoosiers, led by Trayce Jackson-Davis’ 25 points and 10 rebounds, dominated the Boilermakers from start to finish, holding Purdue’s high-powered offense to just 38% shooting from the field.

“This is a huge win for our program,” said Woodson, who is in his second season as IU’s head coach. “Our guys have been working hard all season, and it’s great to see them get rewarded with a win like this.”

The victory marked the Hoosiers’ first win over a top-ranked team since 2013, and it sent shockwaves throughout the college basketball world.

“Purdue is an incredible team, and to beat them is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our players,” said Jackson-Davis, who was named the game’s MVP. “We’re on a mission to prove that we’re a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten.”

The win improved the Hoosiers’ record to 18-5 overall and 9-3 in the Big Ten, and it has them poised to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.

“Indiana is a team that nobody wants to face right now,” said ESPN college basketball analyst Jay Bilas. “They’re playing with confidence and swagger, and they’ve got the talent and depth to make a serious run in March.”

The Hoosiers will look to keep their momentum going when they face off against Michigan State on Tuesday night.
