*No. 14 Kentucky Women’s Basketball Falls Short Against No. 7 LSU, 65-58*
Lexington, KY – The No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats women’s basketball team put up a valiant effort but ultimately came up short against the No. 7 LSU Tigers, losing 65-58 at the Memorial Coliseum on Thursday night.
Despite a strong performance from senior guard Maddie Scherr, who scored 15 points and dished out five assists, the Wildcats were unable to overcome the Tigers’ dominant rebounding and stingy defense.
LSU’s Angel Reese led all scorers with 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Emily Ward added 17 points and five assists.
Kentucky’s Blair Green chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds, but it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tigers’ balanced attack.
The loss drops the Wildcats to 18-8 overall and 7-6 in the Southeastern Conference, while LSU improves to 22-2 overall and 10-2 in the SEC.
