Report: Erik “Soup” Campbell to Return to Michigan Football as Assistant Wide Receivers Coach

Erik “Soup” Campbell is set to rejoin the University of Michigan football team as the assistant wide receivers coach under head coach Sherrone Moore. Campbell’s return to Ann Arbor comes after a six-year stint as the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach at Bowling Green State University.

 

*Campbell’s Background*

– *Alma Mater:* University of Michigan, where he played football from 1984 to 1987 and started 30 career games as a defensive back.

– *Coaching Experience:* Campbell has over 37 years of coaching experience, including stints at Michigan, Iowa, Delaware, Connecticut, and Bowling Green, as well as two years in the Canadian Football League with the Montreal Alouettes.

 

*Previous Tenure at Michigan*

– *Wide Receivers Coach:* Campbell coached wide receivers at Michigan from 1995 to 2007, molding three All-Americans: David Terrell, Marquise Walker, and Braylon Edwards.

– *Assistant Head Coach:* He served as assistant head coach from 2003 to 2007, while also coaching wide receivers.

– *Recruiting Coordinator:* Campbell returned to Michigan in 2015 as the recruiting coordinator under Jim Harbaugh ¹ ² ³.
