*OAS Condemns Venezuela’s Threats Against ExxonMobil Operations in Guyana’s Waters*

WASHINGTON D.C., USA – The General Secretariat of the Organization of American States (OAS) has issued a statement strongly condemning Venezuela’s recent threats against ExxonMobil’s Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading (FPSO) vessels operating in Guyana’s territorial waters.

In the statement, the OAS expressed its deep concern over Venezuela’s “unacceptable and provocative” behavior, which it said undermines the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Guyana.

“The OAS rejects any threat or use of force against ExxonMobil’s operations in Guyana’s waters, and calls on Venezuela to respect the sovereign rights of Guyana and the principles of international law,” the statement read.

The OAS also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, and urged Venezuela to engage in diplomatic efforts to resolve any disputes with Guyana through peaceful means.

The statement comes after reports emerged that Venezuela’s navy had been harassing ExxonMobil’s FPSO vessels in Guyana’s Stabroek Block, a lucrative oil field that has been the subject of a long-standing border dispute between Guyana and Venezuela.

Guyana’s government has welcomed the OAS statement, saying it is a clear indication of the international community’s support for Guyana’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

“We appreciate the OAS’s strong stance on this matter, and we will continue to work with our international partners to ensure that our sovereign rights are respected,” said a spokesperson for Guyana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation from the international community, with several countries and organizations calling on Venezuela to respect Guyana’s territorial boundaries.
