SIGNING ALERT: COLORADO AVALANCHE LAND STAR FORWARD  IN BOLD OFFENSIVE UPGRADE AHEAD OF 2025-26 SEASON…..SEE MORE…..

The Colorado Avalanche are sending a clear message to the NHL: they’re all-in.

In a major offseason move that’s sure to energize fans in Denver and shake up the Western Conference, the Avalanche have officially signed former Boston Bruins winger Jake DeBrusk to a multi-year deal. The gritty, high-scoring forward joins the Avs on a five-year contract worth $27.5 million, locking in a dynamic top-six presence through the prime of his career.

Why DeBrusk?

The 28-year-old DeBrusk brings a rare mix of speed, scoring touch, and playoff experience. After spending the first eight seasons of his career with the Bruins, where he tallied 146 goals and 131 assists in 465 games, DeBrusk hits Colorado as a proven 20-goal scorer capable of elevating his game when it matters most.

The Avalanche have long been searching for a versatile forward to complement their explosive core — and DeBrusk fits that bill perfectly. His ability to play on either wing, kill penalties, and chip in clutch goals makes him a dream fit alongside the likes of Nathan MacKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar.

Avalanche GM Speaks

“Jake plays with the kind of edge and tenacity we value,” said Avalanche GM Chris MacFarland. “He’s not afraid to go to the dirty areas, and he’s a proven playoff performer. We believe he’s going to thrive in our system and make an immediate impact on both ends of the ice.”

DeBrusk’s Reaction

In his first comments as a member of the Avalanche, DeBrusk said the decision was about chasing a Stanley Cup and finding a team where he could continue to grow.

“I’ve played in some intense rivalries and seen what it takes to win,” DeBrusk said. “Coming to Colorado, I see a group that’s hungry and already knows how to get there. I want to be part of another Cup run and help this team win again.”

A Lineup Boost

With this signing, Colorado is expected to slot DeBrusk into their top six immediately, possibly forming a line with MacKinnon and Lehkonen — a terrifying combination of speed, forechecking, and skill. His playoff grit could also provide a massive boost come April, where the Avalanche have their sights set on another deep run.

Outlook

After injuries and inconsistencies derailed parts of last season, this move signals a reset for the Avalanche — one that adds fresh energy, playoff grit, and scoring depth. Jake DeBrusk isn’t just a signing; he’s a statement.

With one of the most talented cores in the NHL and now a key reinforcement in DeBrusk, the Avalanche are once again a team no one wants to see in the playoffs.
