Elko’s deal is worth $42 million spread out over six years, and he can get more money through incentives:ESPN’s Pete Thamel said late Sunday night that a deal had been reached between the two sides. The Blue Devils were told about the move by Elko during a team meeting on Sunday night. Under head coach Jimbo Fisher, Elko was in charge of the Aggies’ defense from 2018 to 2021.

Fisher was fired in the middle of the 2023 season, and Elijah Robinson has been the team’s temporary head coach since then. This news comes a day after different stories came out about Mark Stoops, the head coach of Kentucky. In the end, Stoops used social media to let everyone know that he was sticking with the Wildcats.Elko quit his job at College Station to become the coach at Duke before the 2022 season.

He has had a pretty good time in Durham. After Elko’s first season, the Blue Devils went 9-4, with a 30-13 win over UCF in the Military Bowl. They started 4-0 in 2023 but only managed a 7-5 record that year.He has a 16-9 record so far as a coach at Duke, which is very good considering the Blue Devils had three straight losing seasons before he got there. Because Elko has worked with Texas A&M before, he might be a known face to a team that really wants to move on. In 2023, the Aggies had a 7-5 record and came in fourth in the SEC West.
