Vikings Rookie RB Jordan Manson Turning Heads at Minnesota Camp

EAGAN, Minn. — As the Minnesota Vikings begin preparations for the upcoming NFL season, one unexpected name is generating buzz throughout the team’s training facility: rookie running back Jordan Manson.

Manson, a mid-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft out of the University of Central Florida, arrived at camp with relatively little fanfare. But after just a few weeks of workouts, he’s quickly proving he belongs — and may even be pushing for a larger role in the Vikings’ offense than anyone anticipated.

“Jordan’s been one of the standouts so far,” said Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell during a press conference Friday. “He’s got great vision, quick feet, and a real burst once he finds a crease. What’s impressed us most is his football IQ and how quickly he’s grasping the playbook.”

Manson’s emergence comes at a time of transition for the Vikings backfield. With veteran changes and the team moving toward a more dynamic offensive identity, opportunities have opened up for younger players to step in and make an impact. Manson, at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds, brings a mix of speed and physicality that fits well in Minnesota’s evolving offensive scheme.

During recent OTA (Organized Team Activities) sessions, Manson has taken reps with the second team and even received occasional snaps with the first unit. His ability to read blocks and make defenders miss has caught the attention of coaches, teammates, and local media alike.

“Every day he does something that makes you take notice,” said veteran wide receiver Justin Jefferson. “He’s not just fast—he’s smart. He listens, he learns, and he runs hard.”

Manson’s college career was marked by steady growth and versatility. He rushed for over 1,200 yards and 13 touchdowns in his senior year and added value as a pass-catcher out of the backfield. That dual-threat ability could make him especially valuable in the Vikings’ offense, which often asks its running backs to contribute in the passing game.

Running backs coach Curtis Modkins also praised Manson’s work ethic and humility. “He doesn’t act like he’s made it. He comes in early, stays late, asks questions, and wants to get better. That’s what you want in a rookie.”

While it’s still early in the offseason, Manson’s performance is forcing coaches to take a serious look at how he could contribute once the regular season begins. Whether as a change-of-pace back, a third-down weapon, or even a special teams contributor, his versatility gives the Vikings options.

“He’s earning every opportunity he’s getting,” O’Connell added. “If he keeps this up through training camp and preseason, he’ll make it tough for us to keep him off the field.”

With several weeks to go before final roster decisions are made, Jordan Manson still has plenty to prove. But if early signs are any indication, the Vikings may have found a hidden gem in their rookie running back — one who’s turning heads and gaining momentum with each rep.
