Lexington, KY – In a stunning upset, the Kentucky Wildcats delivered a thrilling 75-68 victory over the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Purdue Boilermakers, at Rupp Arena on Tuesday night.

The Wildcats, led by freshman sensation Oscar Tshiebwe, who scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, proved they’re a force to be reckoned with in college hoops.

Kentucky’s defense was equally impressive, holding Purdue’s high-powered offense to just 38% shooting from the field and forcing 15 turnovers.

“This is a huge win for us,” said Kentucky head coach John Calipari. “Our guys played with heart and determination. We’re proud of them.”

The victory marks Kentucky’s first win over a No. 1 ranked team since 2015 and sends a statement to the rest of the country that they’re a legitimate contender for the NCAA championship.
