LSU Tigers Celebrate Thrilling 7-4 Victory Over Arkansas…read more…

June 19, 2025 – Omaha, NE

The LSU Tigers erupted in celebration on Wednesday night following a hard-fought 7-4 victory over the Arkansas Razorbacks, keeping their College World Series hopes alive in thrilling fashion. The game, played under the lights at Charles Schwab Field, was a testament to grit, timely hitting, and clutch pitching — and the Tigers delivered on all fronts.

After dropping an earlier matchup in the series, LSU came into the game with their backs against the wall. Head coach Jay Johnson emphasized a do-or-die mentality before the first pitch, and his players responded with a performance that showcased the resilience and firepower that have defined their postseason run.

“It was a total team effort,” Johnson said after the game. “Every guy contributed, from the starters to the bullpen. They fought every inning. I’m incredibly proud of how they responded in the face of pressure.”

The Tigers struck early, with sophomore slugger Tommy White launching a two-run homer in the bottom of the first to give LSU a quick lead. The Razorbacks answered with a pair of runs in the third, but LSU stayed composed. In the fifth, back-to-back RBI singles by Josh Pearson and Jared Jones helped LSU retake a 5-3 lead, energizing the dugout and their loyal fan base in the stands.

Arkansas threatened again in the seventh, narrowing the score to 5-4, but LSU’s bullpen — led by reliever Griffin Herring — shut the door with poise and precision. Herring pitched two crucial innings and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the eighth to preserve the lead.

In the bottom of the eighth, LSU added insurance runs thanks to a clutch double by freshman standout Ashton Larson, giving the Tigers a comfortable three-run cushion heading into the final frame. When closer Gavin Guidry took the mound in the ninth, fans were on their feet — and Guidry delivered, striking out two and securing the final out on a grounder to third.

As the final out was recorded, the LSU dugout emptied onto the field in jubilation. Players embraced, tossed gloves in the air, and waved to a sea of purple-and-gold faithful who had made the trip to Omaha. It was a moment of celebration, relief, and belief that this team could keep its championship dreams alive.

“This team has a lot of heart,” said White, who finished the night 2-for-4 with three RBIs. “We know what’s at stake every time we take the field. We’re not done yet.”

The win keeps LSU in the running for a spot in the College World Series finals and builds momentum as they prepare for their next opponent. With the energy from this victory fueling them and their fanbase roaring behind them, the Tigers look ready for the challenges ahead.

For now, though, it’s celebration time in Baton Rouge — and LSU is savoring every second of this thrilling 7-4 win.
