Leicester City are among a host of clubs monitoring 17-year-old IFK Göteborg midfielder Oliver Monsson, according to a recent report in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.

The Foxes are said to have sent scouts to watch the young player, who is also attracting interest from Watford, Roma, Chelsea, Arsenal, Freiburg and Manchester United. Monsson, a central midfielder, is contracted to IFK Göteborg until the end of December 2028, according to Transfermarkt data. He has made 19 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals. He is a Sweden Under-18 international and has previously represented his country at Under-15, Under-16 and Under-17 levels.

Monsson is represented by the agency Nordic Sky, which also counts Martin Ødegaard among its clients.

In a separate report, Championship and League One clubs are understood to be monitoring 19-year-old central defender Zak Sowden-Fletcher of non-league side St Albans City. With uncertainty surrounding the futures of Leicester defenders Caleb Okoli, Ben Nelson and Harry Souttar, the club could look to strengthen in that position during the upcoming transfer window.

Sowden-Fletcher, who competes at the seventh tier of English football, is viewed as a potential January mover. He joined St Albans on a short-term deal after being released by Cambridge United in the summer.
