In a massive recruiting victory that could redefine the future of Red Raiders football, four-star quarterback Jackson Turner has officially committed to Texas Tech, choosing the Red Raiders over a long list of powerhouse programs including Oklahoma, Oregon, and TCU.

Turner, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound dual-threat weapon from Allen High School in Texas, is ranked as the No. 7 quarterback nationally and the No. 68 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Known for his arm strength, mobility, and high football IQ, Turner’s decision marks one of the biggest recruiting wins for Texas Tech in recent memory.

The announcement was made during a ceremony at his high school gym, where Turner pulled a red Texas Tech cap from under the table to a roar of applause. “Texas Tech believed in me from day one,” Turner said with confidence. “The vision, the energy — I want to build something special in Lubbock.”

The Red Raiders coaching staff, led by head coach Joey McGuire and offensive coordinator Zach Kittley, had made Turner their top priority since his sophomore season. Their persistence clearly paid off.

“We’re getting a guy who can change the game from day one,” Coach McGuire said. “Jackson is a winner, a competitor, and he has the type of leadership that will electrify our locker room and our fan base.”

Turner threw for over 3,600 yards and 34 touchdowns last season while rushing for an additional 800 yards and 12 scores. His blend of passing touch and running ability makes him an ideal fit for Texas Tech’s high-octane offensive system.

Analysts had long projected him to land at a more traditional powerhouse like Oklahoma or Oregon, both of whom were in his final four. But Turner’s choice to stay in-state and lead the Red Raiders signals a shift in momentum for the Texas Tech program — and one that fans are embracing with open arms.

Within minutes of the commitment, “GunsUp” and “Welcome Jackson” trended across Texas Tech social media circles. Red Raider Nation knows what this means — not just for the quarterback room, but for future recruiting. Turner’s decision could influence other top offensive weapons to join him in Lubbock.

Though he still has his senior season ahead of him, Turner has confirmed he plans to enroll early at Texas Tech in January 2025 to begin working with the team immediately.

“I’m ready to be a Red Raider,” he said. “We’re about to turn it up in Lubbock. Let’s ride.”

Texas Tech’s 2025 class now climbs into the Top 15 nationally, and with a quarterback like Turner at the center of it, the future looks red-hot.
