The Vancouver Canucks have announced the signing of highly-touted young forward Ethan Walsh to a three-year entry-level contract, signaling a strong investment in the team’s future.

Walsh, 21, has been making waves across the junior hockey scene and most recently dominated the WHL with the Kelowna Rockets, tallying 34 goals and 46 assists in just 64 games during the 2024-25 season. His blend of speed, hockey IQ, and tenacity made him one of the most sought-after prospects heading into the offseason.

Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin expressed his excitement in a press release this morning.

> “Ethan is a dynamic forward with a high compete level. His ability to generate offense and his work ethic on and off the ice make him a perfect fit for our roster moving forward. We’re thrilled to have him join the Canucks organization.”

Walsh, who hails from Calgary, Alberta, was originally selected 42nd overall in the 2023 NHL Draft. After another strong season of development and standout performances at the World Juniors, Vancouver saw enough promise to bring him into the fold.

“I’ve grown up watching the Canucks and always admired the way they play,” Walsh said during his official introduction. “To be part of this team, this city, and this fanbase is something I’ve dreamed about since I was a kid. I’m ready to work hard and contribute however I can.”

The signing adds depth to Vancouver’s forward group, which is undergoing a strategic rebuild with a focus on speed and skill. Walsh is expected to compete for a bottom-six role at training camp, with the potential to earn top-nine minutes as the season progresses.

Fans can look forward to seeing Walsh don the Canucks jersey this fall as the team continues building toward playoff contention.
