45th U.S. President Donald Trump delivers 20 key campaign vows as polls show drastic changes

On Tuesday, former President Donald Trump talked about a list of 20 campaign vows in a post on Truth Social and on the landing page of his website.

Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t start talking about her plans until Friday, but Trump has been linked to a lot of different issues just this election cycle.

He began putting out videos and comments with the name Agenda47 in 2022. While Democrats were spreading fear about Project 2025, the official policy from the Republican National Committee came out. Trump then presented it along with “20 Core Promises to Make America Great Again.” That doesn’t include the side trips he takes on the campaign road, like hinting at a 20% tariff on all goods, which he did this week in North Carolina.

Costas Panagopoulos, a political science professor at Northeastern University, says that policy platforms and messages often change during a presidential race. He said that policies today are usually just ideas for what the party might want to do, so they should be used with a grain of salt.

“I think the scaled back nature of the Republican platform reflects in part, the fact that Donald Trump himself seems to think that these documents are essentially toothless and that voters may not be so interested in the intricacies of policy substance, so the message has been distilled and simplified in many ways,” he added.

Plan 47

In 2022, Trump started putting out videos and speeches outlining his policy plans. This was during the primary season, when he was running against people like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, all of whom were easily beaten.

There are a lot of ideas in the plans for how to deal with crime, schooling, health care, immigration, the economy, and other issues through executive action.

Some of those ideas, like giving drug dealers the death penalty or making a group that would train teachers in patriotism, were meant to get people’s attention. Still, some problem areas, like health care, were not fully covered.

The RNC platform took the place of the Agenda47 landing pages on Trump’s campaign websites, but they are still available.

Plan 2025
Project 2025, which is also called the 2025 Presidential Transition Project, came out in April 2023 from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank.

Democrats were worried about some of the extreme policy ideas in the document, so Trump tried to distance himself from it. However, many of the people who worked on the playbook are connected to Trump and his first government.

The 900-page plan is much more detailed than the others, but it has some similar ideas, like protecting the borders, limiting the rights of transgender people, and controlling the energy supply.

‘Make America Great Again’ RNC
Before the July Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, the group backed a platform that was a top-to-bottom copy of Trump’s most popular campaign points, with the slogan “Make America Great Again” served as a title.

There was a lot of support for “America First” policies in the preamble. It said that the southern border should be secured, industry should come back to the U.S., energy production should go up, and the military should be strong.

Abortion was mostly left out of the paper, which suggests that policy decisions should be made by the states. This is similar to how Trump avoided calling for a national abortion ban earlier this year.

Trump’s 20 MOST IMPORTANT PROMISES TO MAKE THE USA GREAT AGAIN!
On the RNC’s “Make America Great Again” platform are Trump’s 20 Core Promises. The GOP calls the platform “a forward-looking Agenda that begins with the following twenty promises that we will accomplish very quickly when we win the White House and Republican Majorities in the House and Senate.”

Trump talked a lot about this list after his Monday chat with Elon Musk.

Close the border to stop the flow of migrants.
Put an end to inflation and make America cheap again. Deport as many people as ever before.
American energy production should be the best in the world by a long shot.
Bring industry back to the United States and stop outsourcing.
People who work get big tax cuts, and tips aren’t taxed.
Protect our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our basic rights, such as the right to keep and bear guns, free speech, and freedom of religion.
Stop World War III, make peace in Europe and the Middle East again, and build an iron dome nuclear defense shield over the whole country. All of this should be done in the United States.
Stop making the government into a tool against the people of the United States.
Put an end to the huge number of crimes committed by immigrants, destroy the foreign drug groups, stop gang violence, and jail violent criminals.
Fix up our towns, like Washington, D.C., so they are safe, clean, and beautiful again.
Our military should be the best and most powerful in the world. It should be updated and made stronger.
Keep the dollar as the world’s main currency.
Protect and fight for Social Security and Medicare without any cuts, including not raising the retirement age. Get rid of the rule that all cars must be electric and get rid of rules that are too expensive and hard to follow.
We should not give government money to any school that teaches our kids critical race theory, radical gender ideology, or other racist, sexual, or political ideas that are not appropriate.
Men should not play games with women.
Remove radicals who support Hamas from our college campuses and make them safe and loyal again.
Protect our elections, including the right to vote on the same day, to use paper ballots, to show proof of identity, and to vote.
Bring our country together by making it the most successful it has ever been.
