Top Travel News: A intoxicated passenger reportedly bit a flight attendant’s arm during a mid-flight incident

One of the passengers on an All Nippon Airways flight that was traveling from Tokyo to Seattle on Tuesday night allegedly bit the arm of a flight attendant, which resulted in the jet having to make an emergency landing over the Pacific Ocean.

The American passenger on board aircraft NH118, who was 55 years old, was “heavily drunk” when he “sunk his teeth” into the female crew member, according to the Japanese airline, which was quoted by The Japan Times.

According to FlightAware, the journey that ended up being nearly nine hours long had just been in the air for one hour already.

According to Kyodo News, the flight crew was able to control the unidentified passenger and keep them under control. An ANA official sent an email to USA TODAY in which they provided information that the passenger was handed over to the local police upon their return to Haneda Airport.

The incident did not result in any injuries to the passengers.

The number of incidents involving passengers who can’t be controlled is on the rise.

Kyodo News reports that the passenger denied the allegations brought up by the investigators, stating that he was under the influence of a sleeping pill at the time of the assault and so did not remember it.

The request for comment that was made by USA TODAY was not met with a response from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department.

“We will take all necessary actions to ensure the safety and security of our passengers and employees,” the spokeswoman for ANA stated. “The safety and security of our passengers and employees is ANA’s top priority…”

It was about 19 hours after the flight was supposed to depart when it finally took off the following day.

Another intoxicated passenger forced an American Airlines flight to be diverted earlier this month when he struck a flight attendant many times. He also claimed that he did not remember the incident that occurred.
