An American Airlines aircraft undergoes a challenging landing at Maui airport, resulting in the hospitalization of six individuals – What happened

Federal officials say six people were hurt when an American Airlines plane “hard landed” at Kahului Airport in Maui on Saturday afternoon.

In a statement, the FAA said it is looking into what happened after Airbus A320 American Airlines Flight 271 “made a hard landing” on the runway at 2:00 p.m. local time.

American Airlines told USA TODAY that one passenger and five flight workers were taken to the hospital and deemed stable before being sent home.

The airline said there were 167 passengers and seven team members on board the flight from Los Angeles.

“Customers got off the plane normally,” American Airlines said in a statement. “The plane taxied to the gate on its own power.”

The company also said that the plane was “taken out of service so that our maintenance team could inspect it.”

The business said, “Make sure our customers and team members are safe first.”

CNN said that the flight landed at Kahului Airport more than an hour after it was supposed to at 12:47 p.m., after taxiing at LAX before taking off. It’s not clear why it had stopped, though, or if that had anything to do with the flight’s hard crash.
