Seven (7) of the most beautiful train rides in the world

Published

on

In the past, trains were the only way to get from A to B. Now, trains are more popular than ever. The U.S. does have some of the most beautiful trains, of course. But to keep up with demand, businesses in other countries are also putting money into scenic trains. Why not put on your list of things to do one of Japan’s most beautiful scenic train rides? It has the only 7-star train in the world. You could also look at European classics that go through the beautiful Swiss Alps or wind along the West Rhine River in Germany.

You can take a train or track from New Zealand to Canada that fits your trip way. Here are the best scenic trains and routes in the world, whether you are on a tight budget or looking for the high life.

The Glacier Express in Switzerland

The Glacier fastest says it is the world’s slowest fastest train, so enjoy the views as you sip high-end wines from Graubünden on the way from St. Moritz to Zermatt. There are three Swiss cantons and 91 tunnels on the eight-hour trip.

Seven (7) of the most beautiful train rides in the world

It’s also amazing that you’ll cross 291 bridges, many of which are engineering feats because of the rough terrain. The first ticket costs $180. You’ll have to pay an extra $530 to go to Excellence Class and get the five-course regional meal.

Schweiz’s Jungfrau Railways

It’s not cheap—$127 for a 45-minute trip. Still, this exciting hike from Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch in the Bernese Alps is well worth the money and the noise. How many people can say they’ve been to the highest point in Europe? Keep drinking water to avoid getting mountain sickness. Take sunscreen with you too. The Jungfrau Railway is open all year; the sun is just as strong in the winter.

The Santa Claus Express in Finland

Don’t think about the North Pole. Santa Claus lives in Lapland in Finland, in the town of Rovaniemi to be exact. Even though it’s in the Arctic Circle, the Santa Claus Express makes going to Santa Claus Village from Helsinki easier and more beautiful than ever. The first ticket for the 15-hour trip costs only $25. On this beautiful train ride, you can choose between regular cars and sleeper cars. There are also Wi-Fi, power outlets, and showers for your convenience.

Europe: the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express

This fancy train takes you back to the 1920s, when only the rich took the rails to visit Europe’s most beautiful towns. If you want to go to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Prague, or even Istanbul, the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express is the way to go. You should expect to pay at least $3,600. All 18 wagons, which look great on Instagram, are well-equipped, and the food is out of this world.

South Africa’s Rovos Rail

There is a fancy hotel on rails called Rovos Rail. It is proud of its custom-made train “safaris” that begin in South Africa and end in Tanzania. You’ll see some of the most beautiful views of the Mother Continent on these scenic train rides, whether you choose a two-night or two-week route.

Some activities that don’t involve the train are game drives, golfing, and even a trip to Victoria Falls. From season to season, prices change a lot, but you can plan to pay at least $800 per night.

Wild Malaysia and Southeast Asia on the Oriental Express

People who take the Eastern & Oriental Express from Singapore to Malaysia’s dense jungles get special steward service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. There is also the only Dior spa in Southeast Asia on the train.

The Taman Negara National Park tour and the Penang trip are the ones that most people really love. This train ride through beautiful scenery starts at $3,750.

Great Trips New Zealand

Great Journeys New Zealand has a way for everyone, whether you want to see the wild Kaikōura Coastline on the South Island or find the best spot to see the famous volcanoes on the North Island. There’s also a beautiful train ride that goes across the island and through the rough Southern Alps. The first ticket costs $120. Get a place in the Scenic Plus Carriage for the best views.

This is The Vietage by Anantara in Vietnam.

While the Vietage by Anantara does use state-owned lines, that’s about the only thing it has in common with general trains in the country. To begin with, there are only two passenger cars, and each one has room for six people. Second, the theme that isn’t said is quiet luxury.

The tickets start at $420 and come with a delicious afternoon tea and a free 15-minute back and shoulder massage. Between Nha Trang and Quy Nhon, the newest road runs along the coast and takes five hours.

VIA Rail Canada Canada from Winnipeg to Churchill

The Rocky Mountaineer is the first train that comes to mind when I think of trains in the Great White North. But the beautiful trail ride from Winnipeg to Churchill on Via Rail Canada is just as memorable. In the first place, it feels less touristy. Plus, it finishes in Churchill on Hudson Bay, which is known as the “polar bear capital” of the world. The Northern Lights might also show up if you’re lucky. The trip lasts for two nights and costs at least $350.
